Immediate Past Chairman
- Sheffield University Civil Engineering graduate
- First 15 years of working life was spent on site on large civil engineering projects all of which directly or indirectly involved transport (road, rail etc) and other infrastructure services
- As a consequence of the resulting successful project management track record was able to join an IT consultancy company specialising in designing and implementing computer based business management projects
- Then in conjunction with three other people we successfully established an innovative IT software company based on our joint understanding of how computing was almost certainly going to impact human activities (including transport and infrastructure services)
- My last 15 years before retiring was spent in building up the company’s international business. This involved in extensive travel and as a result I became very interested in the flexibility, integration and fragility of all forms of transport
- Joined the CTG shortly after retiring recognising that my civil engineering experience, IT understanding and extensive travelling could potentially allow me to be a useful contributor to the CTG, transport mission
- Conservative party member for over 30 years
